Challenge
A 1.4-mile arterial reconstruction in Grand Forks. The city's engineering department needed pavement evaluation borings at 12 stations across the corridor on a four-day window with overnight lane closures and daytime open to traffic.
What we did
Truck-mounted CME 75 working overnight lane closures. Standard pavement cores through asphalt, then split-spoon SPT through the subgrade base. Sub-coordinated traffic-control with a local Grand Forks TC contractor.
Outcome
950 feet of footage, 12 borings, 4 calendar nights on the corridor. The subgrade map informed an asphalt section design that handled localized soft spots without re-engineering the whole pavement structure.
OUTCOME
Subgrade map informed asphalt section design across the 1.4-mile arterial.
